Programs
PRE-VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Our Team Members work at the UCPNV Thrift Stores in Reno and Elko. Retail experience includes training to process donations, hanging clothes, tagging items, and stocking shelves.
Team Members are encouraged to explore their creativity by creating specialty displays for jewelry, cards, and artwork. This paid work experience aids in fostering a deeper sense of self-worth, independence, and builds the foundation for teamwork providing necessary skills and experience to obtain community employment.
JOB DEVELOPMENT AND JOB COACHING PROGRAMMING
United Cerebral Palsy of Nevada provides on the-job-support and development for those currently looking for community employment. Participants in job development are offered opportunities to search, apply, and interview for jobs with someone who understands their needs and their goals. Advocacy is at the forefront of job development, by working with community partners; UCPNV is able to help participants obtain employment in an inclusive work environment suited to their abilities.
Further job coaching is available to help participants make the transition to work and to support them until they are confident in all assigned job tasks. Our goal is to support participants in every aspect of their community employment to create a lasting job placement they are happy with.
DAY PROGRAMMING
United Cerebral Palsy of Nevada Team Members participate in activities that combine vocational training and life enrichment skills. Participants in our Day Habilitation programs learn valuable life skills such as money management, career exploration, social skills, and literacy. Team Members in our day habilitation also have the opportunity to participate in community based recreational and social opportunities.
These team members volunteer at the humane society, visit the planetarium, attend music class, and learn how to use assistive technology. By partnering with the community, we are able to provide experiences that shape each individual’s goals.
